Agile BA Foundation - Course Overview

This course, accredited by APMG International and created in conjunction with the DSDM Consortium, is designed to give the Business Analyst the skills needed to successfully gather, analyse, validate and champion the requirements throughout an Agile project. The course will describe the most popular Agile approaches and will use the DSDM Agile Project Framework to take the Agile Business Analyst through the phases of an Agile project.

The course is designed to provide Business Analysts with an in-depth knowledge of the Agile framework, including the philosophy, principles, processes and products as well as the various roles and responsibilities within an Agile project team.

The course looks at the specific responsibilities of a Business Analyst within an Agile environment as well as the tools and techniques that can be used at various stages during a project lifecycle.

There are no pre-requisites in terms of project or business analysis experience to attending the course although having some experience of working in a project environment might be useful.

Agile BA Foundation - Intended Audience

This course is primarily aimed at Business Analysts particularly those who will be working in an Agile environment in the future. However, it is suitable for anyone who wants to gain an understanding of Agile generally.

Agile BA Foundation - Course Objectives

  • The Agile philosophy, principles, process and products
  • The roles and responsibilities of those working as part of an Agile project team

Agile BA Foundation - Course Structure

This 3-day course includes all the elements of the AgileBA course syllabus in preparation for the Foundation exam and specifically covers the following:

  • The business view of Agile
  • External and internal techniques to help understand the context surrounding an Agile project
  • The Agile philosophy, principles, process and products
  • Agile roles and responsibilities
  • The Agile Business Case
  • Stakeholders and personas
  • Requirements and User Stories
  • The requirements lifecycle and prioritisation of requirements
  • Facilitated workshops
  • Modeling techniques
  • How Agile approaches iterative and incremental development of the solution
  • The importance of time-boxing work
  • Testing and estimating techniques
  • Making the transition to AgileBA

Agile BA Foundation - Pre-reading

There is no specific pre-course reading that is required to be completed and delegates will be provided with the AgileBA Handbook on the first day of the course

Agile BA Foundation - Examination Details

The course includes the Foundation exam, which is taken during the afternoon of the 3rd day of the course.

The Foundation exam is a closed book, 40-minute multiple-choice exam where delegates are required to achieve a minimum of 25 correct answers out of 50 to be awarded a pass.

An exam requirement is that delegates must show photo ID to the trainer during the course e.g. Passport, Driving Licence.

Agile BA Foundation - Course Details

The duration of this course is three days. Courses run from approximately 9.00 until 5.00 daily apart from the last day, which will finish by 4.30.

Refreshments are provided throughout the course. Courses are non-residential, however we can provide a list of recommended hotels close to the venue for those wanting to arrange accommodation.
